A surround-sound candlelit experience presented in association with Illuminating York Following on from the phenomenal success of the Striggio 40 Part Mass in York Minster this summer, early music specialists Jamie Savan cornetts, Adam Woolf sackbuts and John Ayers electronics will fuse Renaissance music with modern technologies to mark the 400th anniversary of the Italian musical genius Giovanni Gabrieli. Featuring Gabrieli's 22 Part Sonata in a live performance supported by surround-sound technology, the work will grow through multi-layered tracking into an extravaganza of sound. The audience is requested to remain seated during the performance but invited to stay
on to experience the three dimensional, spatial aspect of the composition, which will continue to reverberate around the NCEM until the candlelight fades at 10.00pm.

"An amazing experience - like witnessing the restoration of an old tapestry from the individual threads... Seeing and hearing it all come together was almost transcendental!" Newcastle University
