Professor Barry Wright

'The Wellbeing of Deaf Young People'

Professor Wright will give an overview of the causes of deafness, the current situation in the UK in terms of diagnosis and then talk about the emotional and social needs of deaf children and the challenges they face in a hearing world. 

Professor Barry Wright is Clinical Lead of the National Deaf Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. This is NHS England funded service with ten centres across England that provides specialist services for deaf children. The service was fully commissioned in 2009. Barry is based on York. He has been supporting deaf children and their families for many years.
