The Sixteen Insight Day - Wednesday 8 July, 1-5pm

Each year the Choral Pilgrimage Tour is enhanced by an opportunity to delve deeper into the rich history behind the repertoire. Whether you are new to the Choral Pilgrimage repertoire or want to expand your existing knowledge, this Insight Day provides a fascinating exploration into the stories behind the music.

This year we explored music from the glorious Spanish 'golden age', in particular that of Francisco Guerrero and Alonso Lobo. Talks and debates were led by singer and practical scholar Sally Dunkley and editor, music director and scholar Bruno Turner. There was also the opportunity to hear an intimate performance from a consort of professional singers.

Members of the audience described the event as:

  • "A genuine 'insight', great to hear from the scholars first hand"
  • "Wonderful - excellent singing from the young singers on the Genesis programme"
  • "A real treat, lots of background, wonderful music and a very generous tea!"
