Arts Award Training - January 2017

Arts Award is a range of unique qualifications that supports anyone aged up to 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through taking challenges in an art form. Arts Award is offered at five different levels: Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver and Gold. To achieve their Arts Award, young people take on challenges, participate in arts activities, experience arts events, get inspired by artists and share their arts skills with others. Young people create a portfolio to keep a record of their creative journey. Along the way they are supported by an Arts Award adviser, acting as assessor, facilitator and mentor. NCEM is an Arts Award Supporter  striving to offer the highest quality Arts Award opportunities to the young people with whom we work.

In January 2017 NCEM partnered with Accessible Arts & Media to provide expert training to music practitioners, teachers and arts managers in York, who want to further embed Arts Award qualifications into their music education offers. Colin Jackson - Director of Creative Learning Partnerships and associate of Cape UK - led two days of in-depth Arts Award consultancy, focusing on the introductory awards,  Discover and Explore , and the more involved Bronze and Silver qualifications. Trainees received tailored advice on how to deliver these awards as part of their education programmes, as well as getting the latest tips and best practice.
