Biography

Sara and Matthew have performed together in festivals and for music societies since 1990. Their programmes range from medieval songs of the trouveres and the cantigas de Santa Maria, to instrumental and vocal music from England and Spain by Golden age lute and vihuela composers, to 17th century broadside ballads and theatre songs. Their programme of division tunes for voice, virginals and lute explores the most famous tunes and songs from Queen Elizabeth's time.

They have made many recordings for European Broadcasting Networks and have been commissioned to create programmes by the BBC and Belgium Radio as well as record for CD labels such as Hyperion, Chandos (Senhora del Mundo - Spanish 16th century songs). They have also been active in commissioning new works by Christopher Fox, Michael Parsons, Benedict Mason and Howard Skempton.
