Biography

Through projects such as 'Supersize Polyphony' and 'Naked Byrd', 'Too Hot to Handel', 'Baroque around the Block' and 'Monteverdi's Flying Circus', Armonico Consort brings world-class music to new audiences in innovative ways.

The group works with the finest singers and instrumentalists using authentic period instruments, performing across the UK and beyond. It regularly works with some of the world's greatest soloists, including Sir Willard White, Nicola Benedetti, Catlin Finch, Dame Emma Kirkby and Elin Manahan Thomas. For its performances and recordings, Armonico Consort has received handfuls of four and five star reviews from The Times, The Independent, The Guardian and Financial Times.

Past highlights include The Magic Flute at the Barbican, Vivaldi's Violin Concertos with Nicola Benedetti at the Hampton Court Palace Festival, Elgar's Dream of Gerontius with the Philharmonia and performances with thousands of AC Academy young singers at the Royal Albert Hall. The group has also worked with many inspirational names over the years, including Jeremy Irons, Dame Judi Dench and Dame Evelyn Glennie.

Armonico Consort is the proud founder of AC Academy, an education programme which provides free first-class music education to children from all backgrounds across the UK through the creation of in-school and after-school choirs.
