The Workshop:
Join us to explore the Messe de Minuit Pour Noël, one of Charpentier's eleven mass settings, containing some of his most lively and attractive music. This workshop will give confident sight singers (solo and choral) of all voices an opportunity to study and perform this delightful seasonal work in the historic surroundings of the beautiful medieval church of St Denys. Singers will be joined by a baroque ensemble and the day will conclude with an informal performance at 4pm, to which all are invited free of charge.

Alexander Kyle - Choral Director:
Alexander Kyle read music at the University of Huddersfield, where he studied conducting under Natalia Luis-Bassa and singing with Andrew Slater. A life-long choral singer, Alex began conducting choirs in 2010 and became the Huddersfield Choral Society's Choral Conducting Scholar in 2011. He joined the Diocese of Leeds Music Programme in 2012 as Conducting Scholar and is now the Diocese's Choral Director for Bradford, with responsibility for the Bradford Catholic Boys Choir and the Bradford Catholic Junior Choir. Alex also works with the vibrant Vocalis Chamber Choir in Harrogate, and has long-standing associations with the Halcyon Singers and Leeds Methodist Choir.

The Venue:
St Denys is a Grade 1 listed building and the present building dates from the 14th & 15th Centuries. It is noted for its medieval stained glass which can be found in seven of its ten windows. The church can be found sandwiched between Walmgate and Piccadilly just outside of the city centre but within the city walls. It is easily accessed by public transport and there is a public car park nearby. Please note that due to the age and location of the building there is no wheelchair access.
