Biography

For 30 years Gothic Voices has been world-renowned for the refinement, purity and spirituality of its performance of medieval music. The group's concert programmes (usually for 4, but also available for 5 or 3 unaccompanied voices) exploit the extraordinary diversity of timbre and texture found in medieval music, and the wealth of experience brought by the group's core membership, unchanged since 1995. Unchanging also has been the critics' praise: Gothic Voices' 2006 CD for AVIE: The Unknown Lover - Songs by Solage and Machaut (AV2089) was hailed by Early Music Today as 'a landmark in the recording of ars subtilior repertory'. Autumn 2008 saw the release of the group's latest CD, A Laurel for Landini - 14th century Italy's Greatest Composer (AV2151). Gothic Voices continues its quest to bring music from the medieval world into the mainstream, making it accessible to today's audiences without compromising its integrity.
