Biography

Ensemble type: Instrumental group, the official renaissance band of Leeds since 1990
Historical period: Predominantly renaissance, but can cover medieval and baroque with appropriate instruments, repertoire and attire

Founded in 1983, with extensive experience in playing concerts, providing music for historical dance groups (Capriol and White Rose Early Dance Groups), drama groups (York Mystery Plays, Trio Literati) and military re-enactors (Tower Hamlets Trayned Bandes, The Queen's Regiment). We perform regularly at Temple Newsam and Oakwell Hall. Other venues have included York Minster, Peterborough Cathedral, Edinburgh Castle, the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace. We have made several foreign trips, the most recent being to participate in the Hieronymus Bosch 500th anniversary events in 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. Our speciality is re-creating a household Christmas in a great house when the Waits come to entertain; also of course, entertaining our Lord Mayor when summoned.
