Music4U: Remarkable Rock Online

Music4U: Remarkable Rock Online

If you're stuck for ideas during lockdown without your regular Music4U activities, look no further as we bring you our Remarkable Rock Online activity as part of our Music4U programme! We've teamed up with Remarkable Arts who want as many of you to get involved as possible, playing/singing/strumming along to Mr Blue Sky with lots of video tutorials and resources available via Youtube and play along tracks to download.

All the info you need is below and be sure to send in any recordings you make, as we'd love to put them altogether as one huge Music4U ensemble! (Under 18s will be notified to send in a permission form from your parents/guardians).

If you have any queries at all please contact us at education@ncem.co.uk

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

GETTING STARTED

Practice along with the videos/audio - and once you are confident - get recording! If there are parts of the song you are unsure of, we don't mind if you want to skip them.
You have express permission to make up your own harmonies, chord voicing etc - as you like, so long as it fits with the song. Express yourself!

RECORDING YOURSELF

Ideally you will have the track playing on a separate device, via headphones. This makes your audio easier to mix as it will just be your instrument/voice. If that's not possible then you can play the original through the speakers of a separate device and sing/play along.

You will need to use one of the tracks we have on the website or YouTube. Please don't sing along to the original as it is in a different key and is significantly higher. Then, either film yourself or get someone else to film you performing the song.

You can involve family members and friends in the challenge, and share it with anyone you think would benefit.

Please be aware that participants will be featured online on social media and YouTube, so do make sure you have the permission of anyone you feature in your video and make them aware of this too.

We will also need parental/guardian permission for use of video featuring children - we will discuss this with you when you submit, if this is relevant.

EQUIPMENT

Most modern smartphones have a reasonable camera and microphone built in and hopefully most of you have access to one. If you have other equipment - webcam, video camera, home recording studio (!) - feel free to use these! If you're feeling a bit apprehensive about sharing - remember your part will be blended with everyone else in the final mix

SHARING YOUR RECORDING

You can email your submission to remarkable.tc@hotmail.co.uk . You may find, however, that the file size is too large for email so the best solution is probably the free file sharing service wetransfer at www.wetransfer.com . You don't have to sign up to WeTransfer - you will just need to enter your email address and the one above and then upload the file - it's very simple and can handle large files.

Email address to send your submission to - remarkable.tc@hotmail.co.uk

Good luck and have fun!
