 ''Teares of Sorrowe and Gladnesse'

Music from one of Dowland's most extraordinary creations, his intense collection of Lachrimae, or Seaven Teares figured in seaven Passionate Pavans, set in the context of works by musicians whom he knew at the Danish court, including vocal and instrumental pieces by Mogens Pederson and Melchior Borchgrevinck, and music by other continental composers such as Marenzio and Lassus who inspired him. The concert features some of Dowland's greatest ayres and lute solos, together with devotional songs, solo songs with viols, and his incomparable dance music.

"...the Rose Consort play in a sublimely unfussy, unfettered manner worthy of the music.” Gramophone
