María Cristina Kiehr
Ariel Abramovich
lute, vihuela

Andad pasiones, andad

Although it is known that songs were sung to the accompaniment of the vihuela, or Spanish lute, in 15th-century Spain, no written examples survive.
Ariel Abramovich's painstakingly made reconstructions peel back the courtly layers from two of the most sophisticated Spanish Renaissance
polyphonic manuscripts – the Cancionero de Palacio and the Segovia Manuscript – to reveal the beauty of the solo songs lying within.

"María Cristina Kiehr is clearly inspired by the musical invention here. Her voice is deceptive, at once cuttingly clean, yet subtly responsive to every emotional nuance” BBC Music Magazine

"Ariel Abramovich''s fluent and delicately executed renditions of the fantasias are very attractive indeed” Goldberg
