Music from Shakespeare to the blues - for a gang of strummers.
200 young ukulele players from York schools join members of the Theatre of the Ayre and The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain in an entertaining showcase of chord patterns, dances and songs. The concert marks the culmination of a whole term's project led by members of both ensembles and local ukulele teachers. The programme connects two Robert Johnsons (the bluesman and Shakespeare''s lute player), celebrating the sound of massed plucked instruments across the centuries.
