The King’s Playlist
A selection of music to accompany Louis XIV in his daily life. What better way to wake up than the Ouverture from Charpentier’s Les Arts Florissants? Extracts from Lully’s Phaëton as the sun rises, a little Couperin as one goes about daily business, a Simphonie pour les soupers du Roy by Delalande to accompany supper, dance music from the Ballet Royal de la Nuit and a suite to dream to from Marais’ Trios pour le coucher du Roy. A soundtrack of music written and dedicated to every moment of the King’s Day by some of the leading French Baroque composers.
‘Ensemble Molière brought us sometimes neglected music from the French baroque and presented it with an artistic flair that added real texture to the enjoyment of the music…an excellent concert.‘ – Eric Page, G Scene Magazine
Ensemble Molière is the first ensemble to be chosen as the New Generation Baroque Ensemble supported by BBC Radio 3, the Royal College of Music, and the National Centre for Early Music.
