The Oxley – Meier Guitar Project is a unique band that successfully melds contemporary (melodically and texturally driven) jazz. They bring around 10 differing guitars to each concert, including fretless nylon, acoustic and electric 12 strings, sitar-guitar, 11-string fretless. These instruments – with these players – allow for a huge variety of textures and soundscapes, from Middle Eastern influenced music to races Brazilian-inspired sambas!

The Oxley – Meier Guitar Project have – either in duo or quartet formats – performed hundreds of concerts together in all sorts of diverse venues, including Ronnie Scott’s, The Wigmore Hall, The Sage, Musicport World Music Festival and the London Jazz Festival. They have also toured widely across Europe, presenting the music from their 5 CDs together.

Outside of this project, Nick Meier has recently toured the world in guitar-legend Jeff Beck’s band and has subsequently recorded with such A-listers as Vinnie Colaiuta (Sting, Frank Zappa) and Jimmy Haslip (The Yellowjackets).

Pete Oxley has recorded 15 albums of original music and, as a composer, was one of only a handful of British musicians to have been included in the ‘European Real Book’ [Sher Publishing]. Pete has, for the last 20 years, hosted and been the house guitarist in the Parliamentary-award-winning Oxford jazz club, The Spin.
