Josquin des Prez – Master of the notes I: Missa sine nomine
Josquin des Prez was one of the most widely admired composers of the Renaissance, likened to Michelangelo by one contemporary as a figure who had ‘opened the eyes of all those who delight in these arts or are to delight in them in the future’. YEMF salutes his greatness in the 500th anniversary year of his death with three concerts exploring his secular, sacred and instrumental outputs, given by leading interpreters of his music. We start with a programme centred on a sublime mass-setting believed to have been written in honour of his teacher, Ockeghem
