Shakespeare in Love

No writer has inspired more music. Shakespeare’s lyric poetry has been explored by countless composers and this programme explores some of the most memorable settings of all, some familiar, some rare. From the simple beauty of Elizabethan airs to the ‘rich and strange’ music of Tippett, ‘touches of sweet harmony’ here evoke the worlds of Shakespeare’s clowns, kings, fairies, servants and lovers.

The 2022 University of York Song Day programmes are devised by pianist and festival director, Christopher Glynn. This lunchtime concert is followed by an afternoon masterclass here at the NCEM with the evening concert taking place at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall.

Please note there is a £1.50 administration fee per transaction
