Over the past 20 years the NCEM’s Music4U project has helped over 36,000 children and young people in challenging circumstances from across York, Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire to engage with music making activities.

Activities have included DJ-ing, Gamelan, orchestral playing, music technology, online music making, percussion workshops and many more, not to mention an array of high level performance opportunities to showcase the amazing talent of these young people. Music4U has also provided substantial sector support to organisations and freelancers working within music education to develop their practice within inclusive music making.

We would like to say thank you to our funders at Youth Music and to our partners at Hull City Council, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and York Music Hub for their support and dedication to making music a possibility for so many children and young people facing challenges in their lives. Thanks also to all of the freelancers, teachers and support workers who have delivered thousands of inspiring and inclusive sessions over the years and made the project so successful.
