The next NGBE Development Day will be on Sunday 12 January 2025

Details of how to take part will be available in the autumn.

On Sunday 4 February 2024, seven ensembles came together at the Royal College of Music for a day of performance workshops.

This was the third development workshop to be held by BBC Radio 3, NCEM and the RCM, designed to introduce musicians to the New Generation Baroque Ensemble scheme. Each group was offered coaching on selected repertoire from Ashley Solomon, with feedback from BBC producers Les Pratt and Janet Tuppen. The day offered musicians the opportunity to develop their practice, learn from each other, and engage with industry representatives. After a spirited day of playing, the NGBE team offered a short Q and A session about the scheme.

This workshop is part of the ongoing New Generation Baroque Ensemble scheme run in partnership between BBC Radio 3, the Royal College of Music, and the National Centre for Early Music. Open to UK based baroque instrumental ensembles of 3 to 6 players, the workshop will be run by RCM's Head of Historical Performance, Ashley Solomon, offering coaching and opportunities to discuss the NGBE scheme with representatives of the partner organisations.

BBC Radio 3, the National Centre for Early Music and the Royal College of Music announce Ensemble Augelletti as the New Generation Baroque Ensemble from October 2023 for two years.
