On Saturday 13 October 2018, The Rt Hon the Lord Mayor of York and York Music Hub invite you to a fundraising concert at the National Centre for Early Music, in support of the NCEM's Music4U youth programme, which offers creative and accessible music-making opportunities for those living in challenging circumstances across the city and surrounding region.

The concert will be given by the NCEM's youth instrumental ensemble the Minster Minstrels partnered by The Early Music Ensemble of Kiili from Estonia. Expect a thoroughly entertaining event showcasing Court Music through the centuries! The performance will last approximately an hour and will be followed by a delicious lunch courtesy of Bradshaws of York.

The Minster Minstrels is York's youth early music ensemble for school-age musicians of any instrument. They perform regularly, including appearances at York Early Music Festival and York Early Music Christmas Festival, as well as taking part in Music Hub events throughout the year.

The Early Music Group of Kiili, which is on tour in the UK, is an ensemble of youngsters with a long-term stage experience. Many of the musicians are award winning performers on instruments such as the harpischord, flutes, recorders, violins, cellos, the guitar and percussion.

The Lord Mayor of York and the Sheriff of York will be supporting the following three charities during the civic year 2018-2019:
  • York Music Hub (including Music4U) - providing inclusive opportunities for children and young people to learn music;
  • York Blind and Partially Sighted Society - supporting local visually impaired people to live independently;
  • The Island - mentoring children and young people in York
