The York Early Music Christmas Festival was created in 1997 to introduce audiences to the extraordinary wealth of music associated with Advent, Christmas and Epiphany, from the Medieval to the Baroque, intertwined with the sagas, stories and tales of the north.

This Christmas our festivities will run from Friday 3rd – Saturday 11th December opening with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and closing with the Yorkshire Baroque Soloists presenting Bach’s B Minor Mass.  Guests will include vocal specialists Siglo de Oro and The Gesualdo Six; tenor James Gilchrist and lutenist Matthew Wadsworth and featuring some of the finest emerging ensembles appearing on the early music scene today including EEEmerging’s star ensemble Prisma and Pocket Sinfonia.
