In the autumn of 1705, the 20-year-old JS Bach walked 260 miles across Germany to Lübeck to sit at the feet of his hero, the composer and organist Dietrich Buxtehude. Radio producer and festival programmer Lindsay Kemp introduces us to that young man and his idol, speculates on his long journey, and compares the two men’s lives and music.
