Gamelan Sekar Petak’s student and community ensembles invite you to join them for a relaxed performance at the National Centre for Early Music. Journey around Java, exploring the different styles of gamelan found across this vibrant island. Hear the refined court music of Surakarta, the old palatial sounds of Yogyakarta and pieces from the lively East Javanese repertoire, and notice how these traditional styles have influenced local culture in a selection of new works by York-based composers.
