Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart String Quintet in C minor, K 406
Johannes Brahms String Sextet No. 1 in B-flat major, Op. 18

The finale of this year’s festival is a strings only concert of the unique, ravishing sound world made by some of the best string players in Europe.

Mozart’s Quintet is a transcription of an earlier Serenade for 8 wind instruments. It was his way to raise some quick cash! Such is Mozart’s finesse with the transcription that without knowing the back story it would not be apparent that the quintet was not in its original form.

With all six of our star string players on stage at once, we end the festival with the sextet by the young creator Brahms – one of his most gloriously colourful, tuneful, inventive scores; six voices melding into a glowing wash of sunset sound. Such a joyous way to sign off the 2024 festival.

Please note there is a £1.50 administration fee per transaction
