Philip Hobbs

Philip Hobbs has been a classical recording producer and engineer for more than 20 years.  He has worked on more than 400 recordings throughout Europe and the USA, with many of the world's leading artists and ensembles.

Philip combines his work as producer and audio consultant for Linn Records and its parent company Linn Products with production and engineering work for other labels, particularly EMI, Virgin Classics, Gimell and Hyperion Records. A great deal of his work has been in the area of 'authentic' performance, and he has enjoyed long collaborations with many early music ensembles, including the Palladian Ensemble, The Tallis Scholars, the Avison Ensemble, The King's Consort and Dunedin Consort.

His recordings have received several awards; his recording of Mozart's late symphonies by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra under the late Sir Charles Mackerras was voted Album of the Year 2009 by the BBC Music Magazine and received the Critic's Award at the Classical Brits. Most recently, Linn Records was awarded 'Label of the Year' at the 2010 Gramophone Awards.
