Castaway Young Musicians in Goole

Music4U is working in partnership with Castaway Goole Accessible Music Theatre, an organisation providing arts opportunities to young people with learning and physical disabilities and autistic spectrum conditions, to offer Castaway Young Musicians, a new Saturday morning music training session.

Every Saturday, 10am - 12pm, disabled children with limited prior musical experience are given access to instrumental tuition (including keyboards, guitar, bass, kit drumming, hand drumming, percussion, flute, saxophone and recorder); ensemble performance, improvisation and composing opportunities; and Soundbeam and other music technology.

The project combats isolation by bringing young people together to share enjoyable activities and make friends in a safe environment. All participants are involved in decision-making and development of the project. They have opportunities to build confidence, improve communication skills, work with peers and lead the group. Young people's experiences and progress are being documented on film and in audio format, and their music is being captured and celebrated within the partnership and beyond.
