Biography

Katie De La Matter (@katiedlm) works as a freelance harpsichordist, Baroque vocal coach, repetiteur and creative director. She has worked for numerous ensembles, series and festivals including the Early Opera Company, Birmingham's Barber Opera, Iford Arts, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Concerts in the West, the London Handel Festival, the London Bach Society Competition, and the Brighton Early Music Festival. She has appeared on BBC Radio 3, Discovery World and BBC Four, and has coached singers appearing with the English National Opera, Les Arts Florissants and Le Concert d'Astrée. She regularly accompanies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for masterclasses by Dame Emma Kirkby, and performs at London's Handel & Hendrix Museum and Fenton House. Katie has also led dramatic works from the harpsichord, including Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Handel's Acis and Galatea, Charpentier's Plaisirs de Versailles and Hasse's Siroe and Marc Antonio e Cleopatra.

She was awarded a PhD in 2012 by City University for her work in eighteenth-century Italian opera.

Katie is also the Artistic Director of Ensemble Tempus Fugit (www.ensembletempusfugit.co.uk), which is touring its revival of its period Anglo-Indian show 'Calcutta' in 2017, and developing a multisensory concert series for 2018.
